Republic of Texas Biker Rally General Information

The official ROT venue is at the Travis Expo Center east of Austin and attracts 45,000 people. Austin itself has a lot of free attractions during ROT including partying downtown which will be barricaded off for bikes only parking and has about 200,000 on Friday night. 9 out of 10 doors on 6th Street are bars, clubs, or pubs and since Austin refers to itself as the Live Music Capital there will be lots of bands playing at many of the locations. Another thing to enjoy in Austin is riding in the lush Hill Country. The ROT biker rally is on the Lightning Customs' 2012 Major Biker Rallies List.

Good Things at the Travis County Expo Center include nationally known bands (Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Molly Hatchet, David Alan Coe, and Charlies Daniels have played at past rallies), bike show, custom bike builders, Wall of Death, Paradise Bar, stunt riders, tattoo expo, contests for the ladies, and vendors. The party at the camping areas gets pretty wild in the evenings.

Bad Things at the Expo Center include that you should not be surprised by 100 degree plus weather during the day (there were ninety of them in Austin in 2011) and the 90 degree nights that follow 100 degree days. Most of the things to see, including the big name bands are outside. It is $75 whether you want to get in for one day or the entire weekend and a beer is $6 per beer.

Austin ROT Rally Other Info

-Again there are a lot of things to do that are free
-If you go to the Expo Center BYOB. Beer is really expensive costing above $6/beer and downtown the prices are reasonable are always $2 beer specials.
-Admission into the Expo Center is $75 (There are not day passes)
-Camping is included with your admission to the Expo Center, but if you have an RV the cost starts at $220
-If you have a booth and will have a number of people working at it or taking shifts check to see how many wristbands are included with your space
-Registration should be open in January of 2012
