Bike Week Myrtle Beach General Information


There are two Myrtle Beach Bike Weeks- the Spring Rally and the Fall Rally (October 3 to 7, 2012); the spring bike rally is the larger of the two. One of the many changes over the last 5 years is the recent change of the official name; Myrtle Beach Bike Week Spring Rally- "The Ride" and it is on the 2012 Lightning Customs Major Biker Rallies List.

A number of things have affected the rallies in Myrtle Beach. The first and the primary one has occurred over the years with the City of Myrtle Beach and some of the surrounding cities passing non-motorcycle enthusiast friendly laws in an attempt to end the three Myrtle Beach area rallies (Myrtle Beach Spring, Myrtle Beach Fall, and Black Bikers Week). The impact of these laws in addition to the changes in rallies due to the economy and slow down in the motorcycle industry that have affected the majority of rallies have significantly lowered the number of attendees, attractions, and vendors during the Myrtle Beach rallies.

The good news is that Sonny, the long time promoter of the Myrtle Beach Bike Weeks, implemented some changes. Although the number of attendees won't get back to their record attendance levels in 2004 the numbers the Bike Weeks level of attendance as well as attractions, fun, and profitability for vendors will start to improve.

One thing that you will notice is that there will be no events in the city of Myrtle Beach, but the rally events will expand to the surrounding area. This does not mean that you won't be able to enjoy the Grand Strand because only 14 of the 60 miles are in Myrtle Beach. The south end of the Grand Strand at Murrells Inlet will still be the center for attractions.
