Daytona Bike Week General Information

In 1937 with the first running of the Daytona 200 the Daytona Beach bike rally was born in. In the mid to late 40s the bike week started getting a bad reputation because it was little out of control, but in the 80s locals, officials, and bikers met to figure out how to keep Bike Week Daytona fun, but still reasonable for the locals and officials. Over the recent years the law is issuing a lot more tickets than they were 5 years ago, so brush up on the laws before you go.

Daytona is one of the three National Rallies; the other two being the Sturgis rally and Laconia Motorcycle Week. Bike Week Daytona is the kick off to the motorcycle rally season and is obviously on the Lightning Customs' 2012 Major Biker Rallies List.

Bike Week Daytona Beach has been expanding over the years to include Ormond Beach, Bruce Rossmeyer's Destination Daytona, and other surrounding areas. Part of it has been the price gouging in the city of Daytona and part of it is because during the rally has grown so much over the decades. Yes, in recent years the number of attendees are lower than in the past as has been with most rallies, but the total number of attendees is still around 400,000.

If it is your first time to the Daytona bike rally you will need to cruise around on Main Street which is packed. If you have been there, done that there is a lot of riding next to the ocean and beaches as well as riding the Loop. The Loop is a 22 mile ride that gives you the opportunity to get away from the city for a little while and lets you experience Florida's scenery.

Having started with the Daytona 200 you will find all types of races to entertain you. Being one of the premier rallies you will find anything and everything you have ever heard a rally having plus a lot more. Top name builders, celebrities, tons of bike shows, major motorcycle manufacturers and companies, and endless vendors. The infamous Daytona bars have live music, bike shows, contests, wet t shirt and other adult contests, and vendors.
