Daytona Bike Week General Information

Although the total number of attendees has been down in recent years, Daytona Beach Bike Week is still the destination in the early spring year for hundreds of thousands of bikers. Bike Week is the first of the "Big 4" motorcycle rallies (the other 3 being: Sturgis, Myrtle Beach Bike Week, and Laconia Motorcycle Week). Daytona Beach Bike Week signals the beginning for the rally season and is on the Lightning Customs' 2010 Major Bike Rallies List.

Daytona has expanded over the decades to the surrounding cities and the below reasons have sped this up. As you have heard, the police have been cracking down on a number of new laws during Bike Week in Daytona over the past few years and prices for things like hotels have continued to increase. Additionally, the the affects of a slow economy and other changes in the motorcycle industry have shrank the Bike Week crowd attending but, Daytona is still large enough to make getting around the city of Daytona Beach more difficult.

Destination Daytona, created and owned by the late Bruce Rossmeyer, temporarily relieved some of the traffic in the city of Daytona Beach. Because Destination Daytona (the largest Harley Davidson dealership) is so popular with all of the attractions and events you see at most rallies, it is now also this has become a venue difficult to navigate through. That being said, you will probably still want to check it out.

You can ride to Bike Week on US Hwy 1 to get a view of the beach or once you have arrived take a scenic in the center of Florida or ride the popular 22 mile Loop which gives you a tour around the Daytona area. Daytona Beach Florida is known for some rain and at times cold weather (which happened during the early part of the 2009 Bike Week), so make sure you pack some rain gear.

Daytona Beach Bike Week Attractions

Bike Week being one of the largest rallies in the world has everything you have ever heard about at any bike rally. The legendary Daytona 200 is held every year at the Daytona International Speedway. The Rat's Hole Custom Chopper Show is one of the most popular events with over 2,000 custom bike builders competing in two dozen or so different classes.

You will be able to see other bike shows, top motorcycle builders and celebrities, all of the major motorcycle manufacturers offering demo rides on their new line up of bikes, stunt shows, and vendors are everywhere selling everything a bike could want.

The infamous biker bars including the Broken Spoke Saloon, Iron Horse Saloon, Boot Hill Saloon, Willies Tropical Tattoo, Gillys Pub 44, Smiley's, Full Moon Saloon, Froggys Saloon, Dirty Harrys and all of the other bars have lots of things going on geared towards the Dayton Bike Week crowd. The bars have live music, bike shows, other big attractions, contests for the ladies, vendors, and more.
