We will begin the First Annual Fall Foliage Fun Ride at the Natural Bridge State Park main parking lot (6477 South Lee Highway, Natural Bridge, VA 24578). Next check in will starts at 8:00am. Then the first bikes / vehicles out will be at 9:00am. And the last bike / vehicle will be back in at 10:30am.

There is very simple and scenic route is planned to allow you to enjoy the colors of fall throughout Lexington, Rockbridge, Bath, and Alleghany Counties. Although the route itself is only about 60 miles it will take you on a minimum 2 hour ride. Also feel free to stop and enjoy any and / or all of the interesting things you see along the way as there is no required finish time and the Cook-Off goes until 7:00pm. The Fall Foliage Ride will take you through some of the most breathtaking scenery and mountain views in the entire state.

We will leave out heading North on Route 11 through Natural Bridge. Along the way we will pass the Natural Bridge Zoo, Cline’s Dinosaur Kingdom II, the Virginia Safari Park, the Famous Pink Cadillac Diner (which appears on several websites as the #1 roadside attraction in Virginia) and Virginia Gold Asian Pear Orchard (best pears anywhere) on our way to Lexington.

Then we the Ride will travel straight through Historic Lexington with all of its shops and restaurants, passing Stonewall Cemetery, Washington and Lee University and VMI. We will then turn (left) on Route 39 passing the Virginia Horse Center and continue through the Goshen Pass and the quaint little Town of Goshen.

And one more (left) turn onto Douthat State Park Road #629 for the final 20 miles. And this part of the Fall Foliage Fun Ride will take you through the forest, through the park, and to the Clifton Forge Shrine Club parking lot. From there you will grab a shuttle bus back into the park to the Campsite Cook-Off and Oktoberfest.

As you drove through the park you probably experienced the smell of bbq wafting through the Whispering Pines Campground at Douthat State Park. And this will be the Campsite Cook-Off and Oktoberfest.

Also this campfire cook-out is a bit different than most. In this one, the cooks won’t know what type of meat they will be cooking until they arrive. Friday night, teams will be given the several meats to prepare overnight.

Then you will be able to walk to each of the 21 campsites (teams) and taste their samples.

This is actually a judged competition with the winning team receiving $1,000 so they Always bring their best.

If you still want more (or just different) food, there will be other options available for purchase.

Devils Backbone will be onsite with a selection of their famous beer for $3 and several local wineries including Blue Ridge Winery will be offering their products at $5 a glass. There will also be a Select group of craft vendors offering their wares for sale throughout the campground.

You won’t want to miss the entertainment stage during the Fall Foliage event featuring a number of bands including the finale by Chad Nickell and the loose change that will be offering a variety of musical styles throughout the day.

** Finally, you can find more motorcycle events on the LightningCustoms.com calendar.
