General South Padre Island Bike Fest Information

SPI Bike Fest is a family friendly event held on South Padre Island which is located on the southern tip of Texas that attracts around 25,000 motorcycle enthusiasts and is on the Lightning Customs 2009 Major Bike Rallies List. In times when many cities are making laws to discourage rallies, it is notable to mention that South Padre is resort city that makes money on large events like Spring Break, so they welcome the South Padre Bike Fest as a big weekend of revenue.

South Padre is a narrow barrier island that is set up with two main streets running the length of the island with lots of indoor and outdoor places to eat and drink while you watch the motorcycles ride on the strip. When you ride on either of the South Padre Islands main streets you will be able to look at the scenic beach area of the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Laguna Madre on the other side.

Being a vacation destination, there are tons of hotels for you to stay at during South Padre Bike Fest, but book your rooms early to get the reasonably priced rooms because they do get expensive. To get to the island you have to go across the Queen Isabelle Bridge which can get congested, so to avoid having to go back and forth, and wait in traffic getting a room on South Padre Island is important so you can relax and enjoy the South Padre bike rally.

2009 SPI Motorcycle Rally Attractions

Because the SPI motorcycle rally is so close to Mexico it adds some unique things that you can do including the Mexico Fiesta Run or you can go to close by Matamoras to get a little Mexico experience and do some shopping. Other attractions at the South Padre Island rally bike show, tattoo contest, Rhett Rotten Wall of Death, field events, live entertainment, poker run, drill team, contests, Miss SPI Bikefest, vendors, and a number of things for the kids to see and do.
