Fire and Ice Bike RallyGrants, New MexicoJuly 17 to 19, 2009General 2009 Fire and Ice Rally InformationSo what is the meaning of the phrase Fire and Ice? Fire and Ice comes from the El Malpais (The Badlands) National Monument where there are over 120,000 acres of "Frozen Fire" comprised of lava and sandstone formations on earth. In the heart of The Badlands are the incredible Ice Caves filled year round with bluish green ice. Historic Route 66 is something that you might want to check out at the Fire and Ice motorcycle rally. Today all that is really left are some old motels and rusted out neon signs, but when it was built in 1926 it was important to the economy to have a direct route from Chicago to Los Angeles. Route 66 is no longer a major highway, but it was important to the westward migration and facilitated small farming economies to grow by having the ability to sell their crops. Route 66 also helped to facilitate the World War II manpower mobilization. It played a significant enough role in the expansion and growth of the US that it eventually became part of American history when John Steinbeck referred to it as the "Mother Road" in his novel The Grapes of Wrath and later when Tommy Dorsey coined the term "get your kicks on Route 66. 2009 Fire and Ice Motorcycle Rally Attractions Click Banner to Book a Hotel Or Read How This Helps Kids More Grants NM and the Fire and Ice Bike Rally InformationView All New Mexico Motorcycle Events View All Texas Motorcycle Rallies View All Arizona Motorcycle Rallies Go back to: -Biker Rallies Home -2010 Major Biker Rallies List -2009 Major Biker Events List -2008 Major Motorcycle Rally List -Motorcycle Rallies Calendar -Motorocycle Events List Page 2 -Submit Motorcycle Rallies -New Motorcycle Brakes Upgrade -Motorcycle Accessories -ATV Safety -Motorcycle Safety -Harley Tee Shirts -Wholesale Biker -Brain Injuries Books |
