|Description||Alexandria, VA-April 4, 2006 – The Capital Cruisers (Chapter 11 of the Cruiser Club, USA) continues a long-standing tradition of welcoming bikers who have travelled far to participate in Memorial Day events in the DC area. This year, the Capital Cruisers will host a Meet & Greet, conduct a Tribute to the Veterans, host a Celebration in honor of a fallen brother, and lead a group ride to the Pentagon Parking lot to stage for Rolling Thunder 20. The Capital Cruisers will be donating the proceeds from the Meet & Greet and Celebration to the New Life Community Development Corporation (a Prince William County Charity) and the United Services Organization.
For several years, the members of the Capital Cruisers have hosted events for riders who have ridden long, hard miles to participate in Rolling Thunder. For several years, Oscar “Woody” Wood hosted a fish fry at his home for his biker family. Sadly, Woody lost his fight with cancer in 2003. For four years, our membership have commemorated the fish fry with an event in Woody’s honor. Over the last two years, and thanks to our sponsor, Coleman’s PowerSports of Woodbridge, enough funds were raised bring a Feed The Children truck loaded with 40,000 pounds of food to Prince William County in support of the New Life Community Development Corporation’s back-to-school distribution for needy families in Woodbridge and Manassas. This year, the Capital Cruisers will continue their support of the NLCDC and also support the troops through a donation to the USO. Join us on Friday the 25th of May at the Hard Times Café in Springfield at 6:00 pm for a Meet & Greet. Meet us and our guests and enjoy all-you-can eat chilidogs! Join us Saturday morning at the Holiday Inn Express in Springfield for a trip to the Potomac Center in Arlington, where we will recognize the residents and staff members who are veterans, who have had family in the military, and especially those who have lost family in the line of duty. Come join us at Coleman’s PowerSports in Woodbridge at 12:30 on Saturday afternoon for a catered lunch with special guests in celebration of Woody’s life and the impact that he has had on his friends, family, and community! Meet the NLCDC and see first hand how your support of our events is making a difference!
Registration for the Meet & Greet and for the Oscar “Woody” Wood Celebration is hosted on the Coleman’s PowerSports website at www.wherethepoweris.com.
