2004 - 2014
Dear Sir / Mam
Please take a moment to read the following - so that you can get a better sense of how special this year’s upcoming ride will be and how much your support will mean.
Dec 21, 2004 was a day that changed the lives of so many. It left some with so many questions and others in a place of none belief. This was a day when a suicide bomber walked into a mess hall in Mosul Iraq filled with American Soldiers and ignited a bomb. That was the day Our Country mourned the loss of 14 amazing lives and left so many others with injuries - that in some cases may never heal.
Those of us who were hit the hardest were those who lost the most – Our husbands /Uncles / brothers and child.
We didn’t have many answers of why but we did have questions of now what? How do we continue to support our troops and help make a difference – How do we continue to Honor those we lost and make sure they are Never Forgotten – How do we say Thank You for all they have sacrificed?
In 2007 “Davey’s Ride” was founded – a motorcycle ride that raises funds to help our wounded and their families. Throughout the years Davey’s Ride has helped college bound high school graduates on their paths to reaching their goals with scholarships – It’s helped children of fallen soldiers ensure a nice Christmas and it has raised funds for “Hope For The Warriors”.
Davey’s Ride is not only to raise funds – It has become a day of remembrance – a day of Honor – A day of Respect – mostly it’s a day to say Thank You and to those we have lost – You are NEVER FORGOTTEN.
Dec. 21, 2014 will mark the 10th anniversary of the Mess Hall Bombing in Mosul – It will mark most importantly 10yrs of the loss of those we have loved such as my son: SGT David (Davey) Alan Ruhren 20 Stafford Virginia, Virginia National Guard, 276th Engineer Battalion – Along with SGT Nicholas C. For these brave American Heroes:
Davey's Ride will be doing a ride in honor of them – their families and All those who served with them - and in special dedication - This ride will be called "Davey's Battle Brother's Ride" as the name says it all - whereas ALL proceeds that we raise this day will be donated to "Willing warriors (please check out their website www.willingwarriors.org) so that we can continue to do our part in helping Our Wounded and their families.
Our event will take place Aug 23rd 2014 - we will be doing the ride then because the weather in Dec makes it too hard to be able to coordinate such an outside event Although the ride itself receives donated funds from those participating - we try to make the most of the resources we have to acquire as much money as possible. In order to do that - we have to have items that we can raffle / Auction or even give as door prizes. We also need as much promotion as we possibly can in order to make this ride a success.
We are asking for everyone’s support to help make this year’s extra special ride a success - If there is any way you are able to help w/items or promotions or monetary funds - It would be soo appreciated. No item is too small or to big – No monetary donation is to small - Any amount of promotion would again be soo appreciated (posted on event calendars / flyers on counters / windows) - sent via e-mail to anyone you would think would be interested.
Our personal goal is to raise $10,000.00 this year - $1000.00 for every year that these amazing young people have been gone.
The fact of the matter is - We owe a debt to Our Service Members both walking this earth and those we have lost - A debt that we can NEVER repay - This is just a small way to say Thank You and They are NEVER FORGOTEN.
If you have any questions - Please feel free to e-mail me firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you so much for your time and Support
