|Description||NUT-UP Epic- Moab to Monument Valley and Beyond!|
Tons of miles and even more smiles along the way on this truly EPIC run through every cool spot in this region! We wanted an epic event to close the riding season with, something that would carry us through those cold, bitter winter months. Temperatures will be in the low 50's at night and mid 80's, even though it's September! Ideal riding conditions, incredible routes and a LOT more added to this event than our previous rally. Check it out;
Arches National Park Day Ride and FULL MOON NIGHT RIDE!
Canyonlands National Park
Dead Horse Point State Park
Colorado River Road
Gooseneck State Park
Canyon de Chelly National Monument
Mesa Verde National Park
San Juan Skyway
La Sal Mountains
We'll be hitting the incredible National and State Parks around Moab a few days before we run down to Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly. If you've never been, you will NOT BELIEVE YOUR EYES! This is a place where dreams are made. A full day of riding through incredible landscapes, only to get up the next day and hit an entirely different terrain filled with just as incredible landscapes. Four days of mind-blowing scenery, and of course, in true NUT-UP fashion, we have once-in-a-lifetime moments awaiting you for when you get off of your bikes.
WE'RE KEEPING THIS ONE SMALL - FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE
If you're considering joining us, you'd better get in on it while you can! THIS IS NOT A HUGE GROUP OF BIKES CLOGGING THE ROADS - This is a small, nimble run through epic canyons by bikers who know how to ride!
WEDNESDAY Sept 18th
Rider Check-in, Day Rides, Local Hikes, NUT-UP PARTY
We will host a whole different Rider Check in this fall, with quite the cool party for that night! As we can sleep in the next morning, riders are encouraged to hang out, enjoy the good food at Eddie McStiff's and partake in their wide selection of wonderfully refreshing beverages. Will have a few surprises lined up for this evening
THURSDAY Sept 19th
Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park
EPIC FULL MOON NIGHT RIDE THROUGH ARCHES NATIONAL PARK!
We'll have a leisurely morning allowing you to sleep in, grab a great breakfast and
maybe do a bit of window shopping along Moab’s awesome downtown. We will
meet up just after lunch to head out to Dead Horse Point State Park (think Thelma
and Louise when they drove off the cliff at the 'Grand Canyon', was actually filmed
here) and the stunning Canyonlands National Park. Head back to Moab for a rest
and dinner before meeting up again for the NOT-TO-BE-MISSED Full Moon Night
Ride through Arches National Park!!!
FRIDAY SEPT 20th
Monument Valley AND Canyon de Chelly
Yep, that's right! We're going to blow your mind with not one, but two outstanding
locations that are both worthy of a National Geographic spread. We'll be hitting
Monument Valley to take in the world-renowned red rock mitten buttes and have
an epic photo taking session (your friends will not believe your pics!). From there,
we'll be taking you into new lands as we head south to our most favorite of all
Native American locations, Canyon de Chelly National Monument. This is a very
unique region, not only for the authenticity of the culture, but also for the way
the Monument is managed in a partnership with the Navajo Nation. Non-native
visitors are allowed to travel along the amazingly beautiful roads along the top
of the Canyon, peering down into the gorgeous valley floor from a variety of truly
awe-inspiring locations from above. However, no one is allowed into the canyon
itself without special permissions and a certified Navajo guide for day trips only.
This is strictly enforced! There are about 40 Navajo families who have owned
property inside of the Monument for centuries before it was even a Monument, living traditionally and gracefully with the land. Here is a place where time has stood still, where modern 'conveniences' do not distract from the beauty of the canyon walls. Where towering buttes spring up from the valley floor, protecting the intimacy of the untouched, raw lands as they were thousands of years ago. The few families who own this property have deeply passionate spiritual beliefs of the sacredness of this hidden region, and regardless of your own stance, one cannot help but be touched by the untouched purity found deep within the canyon.
Our friends happen to be one of those families who own property inside of the
Monument, and also happen to be certified guides, as they have been for
several generations. Ideally, they are also the only guides who are authorized
by the governing bodies with the proper insurance to handle unique and custom
trips...which is what we've got in store for you. It is incredible!!
Once we get off of our bikes, we have the incredible opportunity to be escorted
down into Canyon de Chelly, enjoying multiple stops along the valley floor to take
in unique rock art, 1,000 year old ruins and the beauty of the shaded path. We'll
be taken to a special (and we mean 'special') location for an evening of food and
entertainment. If you came to the spring NUT-UP event you know what we're
talking about. But be prepared to be blown away, as this is on the next level!
Rather than the life long training of the nationally recognized pow-wow dancers
of our spring event who performed amazing and breath taking dances as their
ancestors did, we have the incredibly rare opportunity to be welcomed into a
true Navajo family celebration. This will not be a performance to entertain us.
This is an invitation to participate as they celebrate our shared moment in the
canyon together, as they do for their intimate friends and close family members.
There will not be the separation of the white-person and the native-person,
there will only be one unified group with comfortable intimate access as they
invite us into their homeland as cherished guests and not as tourists. There is
something so much more intimate and chilling about being part of it, as a united
group, welcomed as a new member of their family rather than as a separate
audience to be entertained. We cannot express in words what only your spirit
will understand. This is a life moment not to be missed.
A few riders will be allowed the unheard of chance to actually camp down in the
canyon, taking in the moon light and feeling the magic of the walls throughout
the night. Let me be clear here; this is not a camping choice to save money, this
is a camping choice to move your soul (there is no way I will be sleeping in the
hotel this night)! For those who want the comfort of a bed, we have a great deal
with the Holiday Inn set up to pamper your body :).
SATURDAY SEPT 21st
Lukachukai Mountains, Mesa Verde, Durango
An incredible route of insane twisties through a beautiful forested mountain
route takes us up and over one of the most unique roads you'll ever be on!
The sharp turns are almost unbelievable and perfect on a bike as our
attention will be 100% focused on the spectacular beauty of this little known
dream ride! From the other side we will sneak into the backside of Shiprock
for a very rare (& beautiful!) view of this iconic butte before continuing on to
Mesa Verde National Park. This is a motorcyclists dream! Boasting a newly
paved awesome road twisting through the Park and offering pullouts to view
some of the best preserved cultural ruins in the entire world. Not only is this
rich history viewable right from the pavement, it is one of the most fun National
Park roads we've ever been on! From here, we'll make the short jaunt over to
Durango Colorado for a night of civilized dining and taking in a bit of the nightlife
before hopping on the free trolly back to the hotel for a cozy night of restful sleep.
SUNDAY SEPT 22nd
San Juan Skyway, Telluride, La Sal Mountains, Moab
Be prepared to be blown away, once again!! For those of you who have done the
Million Dollar Highway, you'll have some idea of what awaits us on the lessor
known but just as epic San Juan Skyway! Absolute paradise around each of the
endlles bends and perfectly angled sweeping turns to get your engines working
and your body leaning freely into the curves! This mountain route offers miles
and miles that will take your mind off of anything other then the thrill of the ride
through a bit of rugged, rocky mountains to what seems like endless lush green
towering trees and fresh mountain air. By the time we hit Telluride you'll have
forgotten any little sore or achy spots in your body and you'll be ready for a little
off-bike excited sharing of your impressions of the incredible road we just did!
From Telluride, we'll take the locals favorite route through Norwood and Naturita,
along the breath taking Paradox Valley to those infamous steep, turns protruding
sharply up from the basin into the La Sal Mountains. Another little known route,
this road takes us back into Utah through the beauty of one of the best kept local
secret routes into Moab.
You are encouraged to join us on Wednesday for a private tour of some of our favorite routes that have not been included in our events previously. Party Wednesday night :). If you can't make that, consider arriving Thursday for the epic Moab runs and the incredible opportunity to ride through Arches National Park under the full moon.
But if you can't make that, at least get off your butt and on your bike to arrive in time for the Friday early departure to Monument Valley and then on to Canyon de Chelly. Spend the night with us and then ride over the Lukachukai Mountains (INSANE!!!) and up to Mesa Verde National Park then to Durango for a good dinner and the night. Sunday we'll hit San Juan Skyway for one of the top motorcycle riding roads into Telluride. From there, the Denver crew can continue to head north and go home, or join us for the beautiful ride through Paradox Valley and La Sal Mountains to come back into Moab through the favorite route the locals take.
We've secured discounted rates for you at various Moab hotels so you can make your own arrangements according to your schedule. We've taken over a hotel in Canyon de Chelly and in Durango and you'll book those through us in the registration process.
BUT BE WARNED: This is an extremely limited event and registration closes on July 26th, or when rooms are filled, whichever comes first!
Registration fee is combined with ALL National Parks, State Parks, Tribal Lands and National Monument Entry Fees and also includes the Canyon de Chelly Excursion as well as Friday night dinner and Saturday evening dinner. Hotel discounts available as well.
