|Description||6th Annual Memorial Benefit Run
Motorcycle enthusiasts can support the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum and enjoy a spring tour of Oklahoma City at the Sixth Annual Memorial Benefit Run, April 20, 2013.
The motorcycle run is the brainchild of David Dunn, owner of Margarita Island in Oklahoma City, and members of the Heartland Heat Chapter of the Wind and Fire Motorcycle Club, which is comprised of active and retired Oklahoma City Firefighters. Most of the members of the Wind and Fire club served as heroes in the rescue and recovery efforts during the Oklahoma City bombing, and all event organizers wanted to find a way to give back to the Memorial to help teach the lessons learned in Oklahoma City to generations of visitors.
The Memorial is a place of resilience and strength, and we wanted to honor that in a way that celebrates life those we lost and those changed forever by their experience, said Dunn. Riding for us is a celebration of life and we are excited to be able to ride in support of the Memorial.
The run begins at Papas Leather in Bethany on April 20, 2013. Participants will make stops throughout Oklahoma City, including a special stop at the Memorial to place a wreath at the Field of Empty Chairs. The first bike out leaves at noon and the last bike in is at 6 p.m. A concert at Margarita Island featuring Black Oak Arkansas will follow the run after several fun stops throughout the city. Cash prizes will be handed out for first, second and third best hands and the worst hand.
Registration is open from 10 a.m. to noon and is $20 for a single rider and $30 for double riders.
Registration is available online at www.margaritaislandokc.com
