|Description||Motorcyclists from the area are invited to be a part of Kennedy Krieger Institutes 14th Annual Toy Ride, which will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012. |
In 1999, Edgemere residents Tom and April Darchicourts four-year-old daughter, Kara, who had cerebral palsy, died of a seizure. The Darchicourts wanted to do something to celebrate the care their daughter received at Kennedy Krieger, so they began the annual Toy Ride.
Each year, the Toy Ride brings together motorcyclists from across the Mid-Atlantic region to deliver toys to the children of Kennedy Krieger Institute. Since its inception, the Toy Ride has raised more than $20,000 in funds, and thousands of toys have been donated to various departments, school programs, and clinics at Kennedy Krieger.
To participate, each rider must bring a new unwrapped toy. The post-ride is open only to participating motorcyclists and children and families from Kennedy Krieger Institute. Motorcyclists are invited to stay and enjoy a free summer picnic featuring live music from the band, Left of Center.
Motorcyclists depart from Harley-Davidson/Buell Store of Baltimore at 8845 Pulaski Highway, Baltimore, MD 21237 and Motorcyclists arrive at Kennedy Kriegers Greenspring Campus at 3825 Greenspring Avenue, Baltimore, MD.
