Please let me introduce myself, I feel its important that you know a little bit about the guy thats trying to organize this event. My name is Mike Tellez a 12 year Army Veteran and National Guardsman and Iraq Vet 03-05. After twelve years of service and a tour overseas I reported back to duty as a civil service employee.

My Pops turned me on to the motorcycle bug when I was 8 years old by giving me rides on the back of a 125CB Honda in the back alleys of strip malls in Southern California ( The Old Man didnt have an endorsement). At the time I thought that bike was the fastest biggest bike on the road. Ive been riding behind the bars now for 30 years plus from rice rockets to choppers and everything in between.

Recently Ive read about some cross country motorcycle events for different reasons and causes. Some of these events are organized on a large scale and others as individuals for the sole purpose of testing ones endurance and sanity.

I want to organize a safe cross country event for the purpose of raising funds for the St Judes Childrens Hospitals and help kids fight cancer and also as a thank you for your efforts contribute a cash award to the participants coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

I would like to organize this event with the input and assistance of the riders themselves. Any suggestions from riders that have ever participated or organized such an event would be helpful or suggestions from possible participants. Sponsors that may wish to contribute or help would be greatly appreciated. I feel it is very important that others have a say and the opportunity to assist in such an important and rewarding event.

I have already planned a rough draft of the Patriots X-Country Motorcycle Run and hope you take a look. As we all know as riders we tend to be an outgoing and outspoken group of people as such please understand that not all suggestions can possibly be used.

As the lead organizer I will always be straight forward and up front with any and all information concerning this event and in NO way what so ever will fellow organizers, sponsors, or participants be wronged in any way. Everything concerning this event such as rules, routes, charitable contributions, and cash rewards given to a few well deserved riders (6) and suggestions taken from YOU will be set in stone prior to the collections of contribution fees from participants. This way everyone knows exactly what they are getting involved in before they donate their valuable time and money to this charity fundraiser. Also any statements regarding this event will be given only by Mike Tellez and no other person or persons are authorized to make any official statements representing this event.

Again I Mike Tellez promise to personally answer every question given and if an answer can not be given at that time I will respond back ASAP as an answer is found. At no time will I leave a single rider or their family and friends supporting them in the dark concerning this great cause or the status of their rider.

40 percent of the proceeds will go to the St Judes Childrens Hospital check out , 50 percent will go to the riders of both classes finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd and 10 percent will go to the Patriots Motorcycle Run organization to assist in helping this event grow even larger and more enjoyable year after year. We need a minimum of 250 participants and the more we can recruit the more we can donate and provide for awards and random prizes. But to do this I need your Help, suggestions, sponsors, volunteers and connections. But it has to start somewhere!

EVERY penny for this event will be accounted for. The Charitable contributions and cash rewards to the riders depend on how many people we can get to participate and volunteer. I would also like to keep the entry fee at an affordable rate so that the average Joe and Jane can participate and join the Pack. As of now the biggest cost is the GPS tracking devices which at this time are costing around 250.00 per piece. At this time I believe 500.00 per rider would be a fair price. Again remember the more riders the larger the charitable donation and the larger the awards and prizes.

The first four days will be of a non competitive nature but still an enduring challenge due to the route and miles ridden per day. A total of over 3000 miles will be conquered. The last two days will be on an individual basis and timed event totaling over 2000 miles. The first four days are non competitive for safety reasons and for the opportunity for people to ride together, meet new friends and have a little time to enjoy the route.

We will be traveling from the Northwest of Oregon thru the Great Redwoods of Californias Coast line thru Big Sur across to Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Death Valley in the middle of the summer with a well deserved stop over in Las Vegas! Well work our way across thru Utah by the Zion National Park thru the Rocky Mountains and to the National Motorcycle Museum in Iowa. Well pass the Gates of St Louis and enter the Great Smokey Mountains and test our skills against the Famous Dragons Tail then onward to the Coast of South Carolina working up along a amazing ride along Virginia Beaches and then find your own route to the Casinos of Atlantic City New Jersey to celebrate amongst our new friends our accomplishments and contributions to a GREAT cause. The following afternoon certificates, trophies for our first three in both categories and cash rewards will be presented and together we can support the kids of St Judes Childrens Hospital and promote a positive image of the Motorcycling community as Patriotic men and woman that care.

You may ask your self why you would want to pay 500.00 of your hard earned money to do something you can do without having to make such a donation. Number one its for an excellent cause to help kids that are fighting cancer so they too can have the opportunities of a lifetime to experiences that we as adults have already fulfilled. What we accomplish here just may save a young life. Second answer, its a chance to meet new friends and share an adventure with other riders we may already know. A problem that Ive often encountered is that not every motorcycle rider out there has the time, money, desire or endurance to explore hundreds sometimes thousands of miles of black top in just a few days. Some may think were crazy, Id like to call it an addiction of whats around the next curve? This is a great opportunity to join others with that same mental disorder. The last good and least important reason is the challenge of covering thousands of miles in less than a week testing ourselves against the elements, our machines, our selves and other riders only to be awarded for a job well done.

As it stands if we could get 500 riders to participate that would leave approximately 125,000.00 in proceeds after expenses in which 50,000.00 would be donated to St Judes Childrens Hospital, 62,500 to be divided between 6 awarded riders and 12,500.00 to be awarded to the Patriots Motorcycle Run Organization which will be used for event expenses and door prizes for riders that have completed the Run.
