Wanted to pass to you some information about an event that we have planned in Whidbey Island next week.
I am a Navy Officer from up in Whidbey and have been organizing a Base wide POW/MIA Recognition Day Road Rally/POW/MIA service for Friday September 17. My father was an MIA for 38 years and was returned from Laos in 2007. I was actually able to go to Laos on the dig and have spent a life time observing and being grateful for those who provide valuable support to the POW/MIA efforts. During our repatriation services, I came in contact with some very important people who continue to wave the flag for our POWs and MIAs as well, to include a 250 bike presence of PGR. There are no greater fans of motorcycle noise than the famililies of repatriated MIAs.
(we will add jet noise this year with a flyover of NAS Whidbey jets)
Last year we welcomed home and celebrated the return of Navy Captain Scott Spiecher, MIA of the Persian Gulf War. This year we shall welcome home the 57 former MIAs who have been repatriated in the past year.
I would like to cordially invite you to our events so we can give credit where credit is due. This event started last year and is gaining some momentum to get bigger every year. A greater portion of my speech last year involved informing the public of the honor of the Patriot Guard Rider mission.

We would be honored if you or any would join us.
The Rally flier has the check points along the route for those coming from off island who might want to join them in progress.
