Come out to the Preble County Historical Center on August 15 during the Covered Bridge Poker Run & Bier Tasting and listen to the fantastic group, Glass Halo! The up and coming band Glass Halo, perform beginning at 4:30-7:30! The bands new album, The World Through Different Eyes is now available. Visit their web site for more info: www.glasshalo.net. New Paris native Eric Arnett is lead vocalist and plays rhythm guitar, Aaron Enneking plays lead guitar and backing vocals, Dave Grodzki on bas guitar and backing vocals and Jason Kuykendall on percussion and backing vocals. Bryan Johnson wrote on June 28, 2010 in Music about Glass Halo: Combining inspiring lyrics, anthemic choruses, catchy pop structures, winding, driven guitars, and an excellent stage presence, Glass Halo is currently on top of the charts in Indianapolis. The band is a pretty standard four piece ensemble two guitars, bass, and drums that writes fairly standard radio rock songs, but theyve managed to work up a following in Indy and throughout the Midwest, playing lots of big name festivals and venues. The radio friendly, easily digestible rock and roll of Glass Halo is a refreshing contrast to the artistic variety of the scene.
The covered bridge tour and poker run is open to all vehicles: antique, classic, hot rods, motorcycles, scooters, trucks, or drive your old junker! Poker hands are only $7; include a Preble County Covered Bridge Magnet, a map, and written directions to all 7 covered bridges. Prizes awarded to the best 10 hands at 7:30 pm. Players select a luck-of-the draw card at the 7 covered bridges, the best 5 of 7 seven cards drawn are counted in each card hand.
The seven covered bridges are unique in many ways. The Roberts Double Barrel is the oldest covered bridge remaining in Ohio, second oldest in the U.S. and the oldest of the nations six remaining double-barrel bridges. On August 15th, all participants will have the opportunity to drive across the Robert Double Barrel Bridge! Additional information regarding past and present Preble County covered bridges can be found in the Societys publication, Covered Bridges of Preble County, Ohio.
During the afternoon at the Historical Center, the Sayler-Swartsel House, 1813 Lewisburg Log House, Bank Barn, Exhibit Hall, General Store, hiking trails, and wagon rides to the restored wetland will be open.
For your dining convenience, the food stand will be open featuring grilled sandwiches, salads, homemade pie, & ice cream!
