DescriptionArt on Wheels Corporation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to strive to expose diverse groups of people, of all ages and elasticities, to out-of-the-box art while supporting local charities.

In 2008, the Art on Wheels Corporation was founded and joined forces with the Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana to sponsor the, soon to be, annual "Art on Wheels" event. "Art on Wheels" is based on an idea to take art "out of the box". Art has, for the most part, been thought of as watercolors or canvas artwork. We wanted the public to see art from our point of view. Graphic designs on a motorcycle, woodworking, pottery, ironwork, jewelry, all of these items conceived and then created are hand crafted by some of our local artists in this area & surrounding communities. We welcome all forms of art, even skin art or tattooing. This show is an opportunity to combine several diverse groups of people, of all ages, together.

Our first effort was greeted with overwhelming community support and was attended by over one thousand spectators, sponsors, exhibitors and entrants. The proceeds from the event were donated to a local children's charity Christmas program.

In 2009, due to the huge success of our past joint venture, the Art on Wheels Corporation and the Southwest Arts and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana once again joining forces to sponsor the "Art on Wheels" event. The event was to be held at the Lake Charles Civic Center on the weekend of October 23rd through October 25. This was another opportunity for people of all ages to view and experience one-of-a-kind exhibits of art on and of motorcycles, hot rods, canvases, metal and wood. This year "Art on Wheels" donated the proceeds from the event to help sponsor two existing programs, "The Whistle Stop" and "Bikers Against Child Abuse" (B.A.C.A.).

These are privately funded programs whose purpose is to help children. "The Whistle Stop" is housed in a convenient location to facilitate assisting families when children have been abused or are involved in disputed custody battles for various reasons. By providing a monitored and law enforcement secure facility, visitations can occur in an environment where the children feel safe and cannot be intimidated by persons or situations.

"B.A.C.A." is an international volunteer group of motorcycles riders who have made it their mission to work with law enforcement and to become a "family unit" to a child who has been abused, to make that child feel that they are not alone and to accompany that child to any meetings or court situations where that child may encounter the person who abused them. If necessary, for the child's peace of mind the group will accompany the child to school and other activities and even patrol their neighborhood if there is a need to help make the child feel "safe" again.

In 2010, the Art on Wheels Corporation and the Art and Humanities Council of Southwest Louisiana are preparing to join forces, once again, to put on this very worthy venture. Again, held at the Lake Charles Civic Center, due to the growing success, on October 23-24, 2010. All proceeds of this event will go to the Special Olympics of South West Louisiana and Buddy Ball & Arts of the surrounding parishes. With last year's event turn-out, we are expecting 2,000 participants, sponsors, volunteers, and entrants. Individuals from many surrounding areas attend and are encouraged to enter their motorcycles, hot rods, rat rods, golf carts, and kids motorized vehicles to be judged by a panel and awards given on Sunday the 24th.

There will also be children's activities (including, but not limited to, face painting, fun jumps, pie eating contests, and a tug-o-war contest) Food and beverages will be sold throughout the event by local vendors and local bands will perform all day on Saturday, the 23rd.
