Daytona Bike Week 2006 General Info

The Daytona Beach bike rally started in 1937 with the first running of the Daytona 200. By the mid to late 1940s bike week had become a little out of control and had a bad reputation which eventually in the 1980s officials, locals, and bikers got together and figured out how to keep bike week wild, but still within reason.

Today, the Bike Week Daytona Florida is the kick off to the bike rally season and is on the Lightning Customs 2006 Major Biker Rallies List. With some 500,000 attendees to Bike Week, the Daytona bike rally is obviously one of the premier motorcycle rallies in the world.

With this many attendees, Bike Week Daytona Beach now encompasses all of Volusia County. When you are at such a huge bike rally, you can spend a lot of time just checking out the crowd or riding around Daytona.

In addition to taking in the sites while cruising the main streets of Daytona Beach, there is a lot of scenery that you can check out at Bike Week. Obviously there is the view of the beaches, but there are also some cool rides that we recommend like the Loop. The Daytona Loop is a 22 mile ride that gives you the opportunity to get away from the city for a bit and lets you experience Floridas scenery.

The Daytona Beach bike rally brings the top names in live music, custom bike builders, famous motorcycle enthusiasts, and expos. Every motorcycle manufacturer and motorcycle company brings their best exhibits of products that you will find anywhere throughout the year.

The major bars during the Daytona motorcycle rally host live music, bike shows, contests, biker events, wet t shirt contests, etc. In addition to the large exhibitions by the biggest motorcycle manufacturers and companies, every other size and type of vendor you can imagine is set up in Daytona.
