Salute to American Veterans Rally General Info

In 2007 the Salute to American Veterans Motorcycle Rally, which was frequently referred to as the Cripple Creek Motorcycle Rally, moved from Cripple Creek Colorado to Winter Park Colorado. Although the Cripple Creek area has some incredible distinct rides through the old mining area of Colorado, you will find the rides in the winter ski town/summer resort area of Winter Park to be just as amazing. Even with the move the the 2007 Salute to American Veterans attracted some 40,000 plus attendees and is on the 2008 Lightning Customs Major Motorcycle Rallies List.

American Salute Rally Events

All of the ski areas during the warm months are extremely attractive colorful areas and Winter Park is no different, so the riding is beautiful and simply amazing for those who dont live in a mountainous region. The mountains are definitely mountains and not just foothills; it is green during this time of the year, pine trees, various rivers to small brooks, various lakes to ponds, and everything else you have heard about the mountains of Colorado. Having ridden in Colorado frequently and just as we say for a rally in any mountain area, the variation in temperature between the day and evening is big. In addition mountainous regions can have drastic and fast changes in weather, so bring your cold weather and rain gear to the Salute.

Since the Salute to American Veterans will be celebrating their 15th year and the POW/MIA Recognition Ride will be celebrating its 20th anniversary you will have the opportunity to see American Veterans Traveling Tribute to the Vietnam Memorial Wall. If you have never been to DC to see the Vietnam Memorial Wall this is the next best thing and you need to check it out while you are at this Winter Park motorcycle rally.

More specifics will be announced closer to the American Salute Rally, but there are a number of items that happen annually. First, things in honor of veterans, the Traveling Veterans Tribute to Veterans, a motorcycle parade, the beautiful POW/MIA recognition ride from Grandy/Grand Lake to Winter Park, Air Force jet flyovers, Veteran poker run, and other times to celebrate the sacrifices our veterans have made to secure our freedom.

In addition, there is always live music, a bike show, tattoo contest, contests, vendors and more to be announced on the American Salutes website.
