Area & Rally Attractions
Cripple Creek had a gold rush in the 1890’s and there are still remnants from this mining era in the foothills. This combined with the mountains and forest makes for some scenic rides. Another area attraction is the low-stakes gambling in Cripple Creek and the close by towns of Central City and Blackhawk.
A featured event of the 2016 Salute to American Vets Rally will be the POW/MIA Recognition Ride. This ride starts in Woodland Park, goes through part of the Rocky Mountains and ends in Cripple Creek. Other attractions include the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall, poker run, military aircraft flyovers, veterans’ parade, live music, Wild West gun fights, guest speakers, and vendors.
