2012 ROT Biker Rally 2011 ROT Rally Republic of Texas Rally/ROT RallyAustin, TexasJune 13 to 16, 2013Republic of Texas Rally General InfoSince the Travis County Expo and downtown Austin are about 25 miles from each other the weather, and especially the rain, can be completely different in each location. The average high in Austin this time of year is in the 90's, but it won't be a surprise if it gets into the 100's; in 2011 there was a record of 90 days over 100 degrees. So first, no matter where you are drink lots of water. Second, if you are on the blacktop it is hot as hell. The Expo Center primarily has blacktop and dirt, so it is probably one reason why so many people come to ride and catch the breeze, and hangout at the bars and pubs rather than going to the Expo Center. Area and ROT Rally AttractionsEvery night during the ROT weekend 50 plus square blocks in downtown Austin are barricaded off for motorcycle only parking and the sea of motorcycle enthusiasts and bikers. On the main party block of 6th Street, 4 out of 5 doors are bars, taverns or restaurant bars, and since Austin is considered by many to be the "Live Music Capital" there will be a ton of live entertainment. Some of the highlights at the Official Rally Grounds at the Travis County Expo Center is the huge party at the camping and RV areas long into the morning, dozens of bands with top notch music acts (in 2012 they had Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Ted Nugent), and bike shows. Other attractions at the 2013 ROT Rally will include, custom bike builders and industry celebrities (Jesse James was there in 2012), the Wall of Death, on site bars, tattoo expo, contests for the ladies (and again, Texas has a ton of hottest women), big rig setups, vendors, and the ROT Rally parade from the Expo Center to downtown. Austin Area and ROT Fees and Other Info--Again there are a lot of things to do in the Austin area that are FREE --If you go to the Travis County Expo Center BYOB because a beer costs $6.
